I have been involved with direct sales since 1994. My successes have come only from representing and selling products that I, myself use and believe in. If you don’t have the passion and “story” to back you up, you’ll have a more difficult road ahead of you.
I didn’t plan on taking on a new product line. I joined Monat only as a customer because my hair started falling out for no particular reason and lasted about 6 months. Two weeks after using the Monat products, my hair stopped falling out. Before, I’d have to clean my comb and brushes a few times a week. I now have no fallout at all.
Representing Monat, and helping others get their confidence back??? You betcha! Sign me up!
Feel free to contact me any time to discuss your own hair issues whether it be as a customer, or as I did, become a Market Partner and share your story!
Malerie Selfe is the owner of Hair Affairs in Sicamous, BC and has been this Market Mentor’s hairdresser for almost 20 years! When Malerie saw what MONAT was doing to my hair, she knew she had to be part of this amazing business and add MONAT to her salon.
If you are located in the Shuswap, Sicamous etc… contact Malerie for your MONAT products or to become part of her team.

Are you trying to make a switch to a naturally based hair care routine like MONAT? If so, that also means you could be going through a nasty period of time with your hair, that feels endless and for some can be enough reason to quit and go back to your old hair care routine. Have you been wondering why, since you’ve made the switch from conventional shampoos and hair care products to naturally based hair care, your hair has gone from fab to flab? That my dear is what we call the detox process, and for some of you making the switch, you could experience at least a shortened version.
My hair is going to do what??? (not everyone… )
During the detox process, your hair and scalp will be shedding itself of the build-up from all of the products you have used. While you go through your detox, your hair will shed itself of all of the plastics, -cones, and toxic chemicals that have built up over time. Because everyone’s hair is different and the amount and type of damage can vary, there are three basic detox responses that your hair may go through when detoxing. You may only go through one detox symptom, or all three of them, over the course of your detox, but know that it is normal and a part of the process while your scalp and hair readjusts and regulates the oil production cycle.
Your hair feels sticky, heavy, matted, and/or tangled – This is a common detox symptom. When your hair and scalp releases all of the chemical build-up, all of the plastics from your previous hair care products stick to just about anything they can touch, including your hair.
Your hair and scalp feel extremely oily – If your hair is extremely oily, it’s because your scalp is used to being stripped of its oils constantly and overproduces oil to compensate. Once your scalp readjusts itself, this will go away. If you slip up, and use a shampoo with sulfates in it, you will basically shock your scalp and go through detox again, experiencing the oil once again.
Your hair feels dry, rough, and brittle – All of the damage that I did to my hair with conventional hair dyes, hair straightening products, and sulfate shampoos, reared its ugly head when I first switched over. My hair was uber dry, brittle, and felt rough to the touch. When you start shedding all of the silicones from your hair, you begin to see the true nature of the damage that has been done over time. It is imperative to get into a brushing routine in the evening, at least a couple times a week. Brush from the back/base of your skull and brush your hair down from there, spreading the natural conditioner that your scalp produces. This also helps to stimulate the scalp for more hair growth as well.
You can speed up the detox process…
Depending on how much abuse your hair has gone through over time, your detox period can vary anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months! I myself experienced an entire 2 month detox period because I had put my hair through the ringer, as far as commercial dyes and products are concerned. If you get impatient and try to shampoo your hair with your old shampoo, you might have to restart the detox process. I know just how tempting it is, because right when I was ready to give up, my hair FINALLY regulated itself. You can speed up this process by chelating your hair first.
Be patient! Once you get through the process you will be enjoying the BEST hair of your life!
Hi there! My name is Heena Patel. I live in Atlanta, GA with my husband, 3 kids, and 2 hilarious small dogs that keep me on my toes!
We moved to Atlanta a few years ago and have enjoyed every minute of this amazing town. My husband was born and raised here, whereas I have lived everywhere from Canada, Michigan, all of over the East Coast all the way down to Georgia. The beauty of moving so much is keeping in touch with everyone from kindergarten onward, and now I have the honor of having friends all over the place.
Having moved so much, I have also seen the downside for my family. My parents never had the flexibility to choose where they wanted to live. We moved when and where the company told us to move, sometimes in the middle of a school year. As much as I enjoy moving and the upside of it, I have decided that I want a career that allowed me to dictate where I would live on my own time.
Another ah-ha moment in time for me was seeing a few people to whom I am close to go through such a tough split with their spouse. Through their rough 1-3 year ordeals, I realized that as an individual it is important to be able to be independent. Being a mother to 3 kids, I will always encourage my kids to have a career where they can be independent and stand on their own two feet. Whether you work in an office or from home, having a career that gives you a paycheck is very rewarding. It is also one of the most rewarding things in life to stay home with your children, so this career allows us to have the best of both worlds!
Helping others is one of my passions. Any of my friends and family can attest to the fact that I always bend over backwards to help someone. If you are looking for extra income or would like to stay home with your kids but still have a career, and help train others on how they can achieve their goals too, then this is the right place for you!
My name is Barb Miller. I live in Bedford Nova Scotia with my husband Andy and our four kids: Austin, Kelsey, Alex and Ryan. We also have a maltese named Buddy.
I started working from home four years ago. My youngest, Ryan, had been diagnosed with Leukemia one year prior and it was a very difficult time in my life. It wasn’t possible for me to work outside the home anymore and I ended up making the decision to give up my job so I could stay home and care for him. While taking care of his needs, which included many hospital stays and traveling for treatments, I started working from home.
Working online gave me the flexibility I needed to be able to work when and from where I wanted. Some days I worked from my laptop beside his hospital bed, other days from home, and some days beside a pool while we had to stay away from home for treatments. The three years that he went through treatment were the hardest days for my family but I was able to find relief in knowing I could financially support my family through this hard time.
I also enjoyed being able to help other Moms and Dads see this vision and earn an extra income for their families as well. I was able to show others how easy it was to work online and take care of their families all at the same time. Some even did this as a second income along with their present job.
Moms that didn’t want to return to work after having a baby were able to stay home and watch their child grow. Moms with kids with special needs are able to spend much needed time with their children and work when they want to. And these people are able to provide an amazing income for their families!
I consider myself blessed to be able to enjoy the freedom of working from home and being able to reach out to people globally and help them achieve their goals as well.
